Execution of the members of the Bohemian Revolt, 1621

A contemporary representation of a public execution of the 27 leaders of the Bohemian Revolt on 21 June, 1621 in front of the City Hall of Prague at the Old Town Square. Among whom there was Graf Andreas von Schlick and the insurgent Budowec. Until this day there are crosses on the ground in front of the City Hall, which remind us of the execution. The execution followed the defeat of the Protestant League at White Mountain (Bila Hora) in 1621. Consequently, all protestants were obliged to leave the country or convert and the protestant nobility was expropriated. The execution ended the anti-Catholic rebellion
