Fascists marching into the Piazza Venezia in Rome, 1922

After Mussolini was sworn in as head of the Italian government on the morning of October 31, 1922, his fascist supporters, the Blackshirts, marched through Rome that same day in a grand victory parade to complete the March on Rome propaganda. The picture shows the Squadrists marching into Piazza Venezia, led by former generals of the Italian army (recognizable by the Greca on their stock cap). Second from left is World War General Luigi Capello, probably walking to the right is General Armando Diaz (Chief of Staff in World War I). They are coming from Via del Corso. In the back on the left is the Palazzo Bonaparte
