The Italian fencing master Carlos Arturo Gazzera in Frankfurt a. M. with one of his students from the Frankfurt high society. Only very forward-thinking parents allowed their children to take physical education lessons at that time, even more rarely to the young ladies. A distinction was also made between socially acceptable sports such as riding and fencing and those of the proletariat such as football
