First cardiac catheterisation experiment, Forssmann

On 5 November 1929 the 25-year-old Werner Forssmann described in the Klinische Wochenschau the first cardiac catheterisation experiment he performed on himself, being met with general criticism at that time. In 1939 the method was adopted in the USA. Forssmann was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1956
