First oscillating lever typewriter, 1864
Writing until 1945: The first oscillating lever typewriter made of wood and sheet metal parts, which was built by the Tyrolean carpenter Peter Mitterhofer in 1864. He thus created the basis for all later typewriter designs. Two women take a look at it at the Berlin exhibition Berge, Menschen und Wirtschaft der Ostmark ('Mountains, People and Economy of the Ostmark')
