The First Turkish War, 1529
In 1529, the Turks appeared for the first time in front of Vienna. The main attack on 14 October was averted. In revenge Sultan Suleiman II massacred about 1000 prisoners. The woodcut of Guldenmundt shows a Turk with captured farmers and a child impaled on a lance at Vienna
