Forest of Compiegne, 1940
Adolf Hitler and the colonels of the Army, Navy and Air Force inspect the troops of the Wehrmacht after having crushed the French Army after a short war. The next day, OKW chief Keitel was to dictate the armistice terms to the French government on behalf of Hitler in the historic forest of Compiegene in the original wagon of the surrender of the German Empire in 1918, which had been specially brought from a museum.
