Funeral procession for a killed SA man, 1939

Photo of the funeral procession for the SA member Max Gruebnau killed by Poles in Kalthof near Marienburg. The funeral procession is attended by members of the SA and members of the Gdansk Senate. At the edge stand members of the SS and party members of the NSDAP, and perform the Hitler salute as an expression of their respect for the dead and their National Socialist attitude. The corpse was transferred to the memorial service in the German Marienburg. In the background, the Nogat bridge and the German customs office decorated with swastika flags
