The Gefion Fountain in Copenhagen, 1905
The Gefion Fountain by Andres Bundgaard in Copenhagen was built between the years 1897-1908. It shows how the goddess Gefion pulls out Zealand (the island where Copenhagen is) from Sweden. The legend says that the King of Sweden offered her as much land as she could plow in one night. She changed her four sons into oxen and was able to plow out a corresponding amount of land. The resulting hole in Sweden is now the lake Vaenern
