George V at the opening of the London Naval Conference, 1930

King George V of England (seated on the throne) opens the London Naval Conference in the Royal Gallery in the British Upper House. Next to his throne on the right the British Foreign Minister Arthur Henderson is seated (at the table), on the left of the King the British Prime Minister James Ramsay MacDonald and the French Foreign Minister Aristide Briand (3rd from left, next to the King). After three months of negotiations, on April 22, 1930 the maritime powers of Great Britain, USA, Japan, France and Italy agreed about the demarcation of the most important maritime powers spheres of interest and the restrictions of their fleet building programs
