German Junker Ju 52 of the Condor Legion in Morocco, 1936
The photo shows a German Junkers Ju 52 transport aircraft with the paintwork of the German Condor Legion loaded with Moroccan soldiers on the flight from Tetouan, Spanish-Morocco, Africat to the Spanish mainland in the summer of 1936. After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War on July 27, 1936, Germany provided military assistance to General Franco (Operation Feuerzeauber). In addition, 20 Ju-52s (mostly Lufthansa aircrafts) were provided, which flew more than 800 flights of Spanish national troops, including 14, 000 Moroccan foreign legionaries (Fuerzas Regulares Indigenas), and materials from Morocco to Cadiz and Malaga
