German patrol in the barracks in Tientsin (now Tianjin). After the Boxer Rebellion, the occupying forces of the colonial troops had the task of protecting the embassies in Beijing and to secure the connection between the capital and the city of Tientsin on the coast for a possible flaring up of the uprisings
