Gertrude Ederle on board of the S.S. Berengaria on the way to Europe. The successful athletic swimmer (1923 world record for 100m freestyle), undertook in 1926 her second attempt to swim the English Channel and mastered the line as first woman on 07.08.1926 in 14 hours and 32 minutes
