God statues of the Teutons
Bearded statues of the gods Mercury, Mars and Hercules, respectively their Germanic equivalents Wotan, Ziu and Thor (Donar). That the Roman deities were depicted with a beard, is to be understood as a conscious adaptation to the expectations of the Germanic believers, as cultural mimicry. Date created
