Gottlieb Daimler

Gottlieb Daimler (1834-1900), a mechanical engineer, besides Carl Friedrich Benz creator of the modern automobile. One of the first engines built by Daimler in 1885 was a wooden two-wheeler. In 1886 a boat and a carriage were equipped with a Daimler engine. The Daimler Motor Company was founded in 1890 by the Mercedes car, the first modern automobile (1900-01, four-cylinder engines since 1899)
