The grand-daddy of all dynamos, Philadelphia, Pa, USA. The Saxton Magneto Electric Machine invented by Joseph Saxton (1799-1873), a Philadelphian, first displayed in 1833 in Cambridge, England. It was later in the Franklin Institute's restoration rooms awaiting the completion of the Franklin Institute Museum. It was the first practical dynamo, thes designating the south pole of the magnet
