Ground crew disassembling the Parseval airship, 1908
The ground crew of the non-rigid airship of the type Parseval when folding up the balloon envelope and removing the steering wheel. Unlike the Zeppelin type in which a rigid framework ensured the external shape stability, in this Parseval the airship shell was ensured by the overpressure of the buoyant gas. After the first successful ascent on 26/05/1906 August Franz Max von Parseval built in Bitterfeld a total of 23 rigid airships
