The photograph shows a group of Italian boys in the uniforms of the Opera Nazionale Balilla with black shirt, neckerchief and fez. The boy in the foreground wears the Cross of Merit of the Balilla (on the right, consisting of a blue and white ribbon and a silver cross with a slanted blue star and the letters ONB) and a brooch on his neckerchief (relief of Mussolini's head, inscription: Opera Balilla - Se Avanzo Seguitemi').
