Henry de Baillet-Latour, 1925

The Belgian count Henri de Baillet-Latour was the third president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). De Baillet-Latour became a member of IOC in 1903. At the Olympic Games of Antwerp in 1920 he took over central tasks in the organization. The first games after World War I with which Antwerp was entrusted just in 1919, were a great success despite the short preparation time and the difficult circumstances in which the country was two years after the war. When the founder of the Olympic movement Pierre de Coubertin retired from the office of president of the IOC in 1925 De Baillet-Latour was elected as his successor. He was head of the organization until his death in 1942
