The woodcut by Ludwig Richter shows a hermit. He is sitting on a bench with a staff and cross. Around him is the forest. In the foreground a deer is drinking. On a sign in the foreground is written Einsiedlers Abendlied, this is also the title of the picture. It was made in the middle of the 19th century
