The historic Paradepappel - parade poplar, 1909
The poplar on the famous parade ground of the Prussian army in Berlin-Tempelhof was very well known in the German Empire. The soldiers, parading in rows of 24 to 100, aligned themselves with it to keep the lateral direction. For decades it served as a fixation point for countless parades. In the 1920s it had to make way for the construction of the Tempelhof airport
