Hitler, Goebbels and Himmler, 1933
Shortly after the NSDAP took power with Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler, the memorial service for the SA man Horst Wessel took place at the Nikolai Cemetery. This cemetery was stylized by Goebbels as a Nazi martyr cemetery. Wessel, who had already died in 1930, was elevated to the rank of a national saint who gave his name to SA standards, streets, squares and military units
