Ibn Ruschd, around 1200

In the painting, one can see in the company of the saint (left) one of the most famous Arab scholars of his time, Ibn Ruschd (center), a devotee of Aristotle's philosophy. Despite the distrust of the Inquisition, Thomas Aquinas, following the example of his great teacher Albertus Magnus, did not shy away from adopting from the Arabs the intellectual heritage of antiquity. Much of it was preserved only through translations into Arabic. Thomas Aquinas was born around 1225 and died on 07.03.1274. Undated photograph, around 1200
