Induction experiment of Faraday, 1929

By means of these balls, Michael Faraday proved the electric induction. One ball is charged and then quite lot electrons sit there on the surface. If one brings around a second neutral ball, the electrons on the side of the ball, which were turned to the loaded ball, are repelled and they move on the side that is farthest away from the charged ball. This part load can be detected: A light bulb, which one keeps on the ball, flashes. The balls are displayed in the London Science Museum
