Introduction of Humboldt to a circle of famous

The fresco, created by Engelbert Seibertz, which best documents, of all preserved works of art, the educational ideal of the royal benefactor, Maximilian II: It shows the imaginary introduction of Alexander von Humboldt (center) to a circle of famous artists and scientists. The portrait of the painter Engelbert Seibertz was commissioned in 1857, at the start of the construction of the Maximilianeum. Therefore in the background, the building is seen in the originally planned form, namely with pointed arches and neo-Gothic windows. The painting is now in the Academy Hall of the Maximilianeum in Munich
