In 1943, labor service was introduced due to increasing labor shortages in the Italian war economy. The picture, taken on July 5 in Milan, shows a registration office for the labor service. The poster of the fascist party, subgroup Gruppo Universitario Fascista Ugo Pepe, lists all the information for male and female students where they have to report in order to determine their suitability for labor service
