At a camp in the summer of 1934, boys belonging to the fascist youth organization Opera Nazionale Balilla practice using a rifle in target practice. The picture was taken on August 17 in Grottaferrata southeast of Rome, the site of the summer camp. In the Balilla, the young people were drilled in sports and military skills for their later entry into the army
