Italian youth in shorts, 1940

In 1940, a new fashion was given for the Italian youth: non-essential clothes such as ties were no longer to be worn. Only short socks were to be worn and the boys were to wear shorts, as seen in the picture, which was probably taken in Rome. This was to save textiles for the war economy
