Jakob Fugger II the Rich

Jakob Fugger II the Rich, Augsburg, banker of the Popes and Kaiser Maximilian I, financed among others the election of the emperor in 1519, established a copper monopoly in Europe. Fugger became the biggest banking institution in Europe because of him. Woodcut by Hans Burgkmair (1473-1531)
