The Secretary of State of the Reich Office of the Interior and Vice Chancellor Karl Helfferich, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army Paul von Hindenburg and his Chief of Staff Erich Ludendorff after their appearance in front of the inquiry committee of the National Assembly. This committee should deal with the history of the First World War. During the committee meeting, Hindenburg answered no questions, but read a prepared statement and said goodbye. In Hindenburg's statement, whose author is believed to be the DNVP member Helfferich, received the quoted statement an unnamed British general, the German army was stabbed in from of the back'.
