: King Ludwig II of Bavaria

King Ludwig II of Bavaria

This painting shows King Ludwig II of Bavaria. King Ludwig II wears the Order of St. Hubert around his neck, the house order of the Wittelsbach family and one of the four royal Bavarian orders. After his deposition on June 9, 1886, his uncle Luitpold took over the government affairs of the Bavarian kingdom as Prince Regent. Because of his activity as the builder of many famous Bavarian castles, King Ludwig II was given the nickname Fairy Tale King'. Undated painting, probably from the 1870s
