Laying of the foundation stone on the Runden Platz in Berlin
The first spectators have gathered at Runden Platz in Berlin-Mitte, awaiting a speech by Adolf Hitler on June 14, 1938. He was later to give the work order by command to 300 workers for the hammer blow (pedestal in the center of the picture). At this place the construction of the Haus des Fremdenverkehrs am Runden Platz was started. The Runde Platz was part of the planned north-south axis of the World Capital Germania at the height of Potsdamer Strasse, but was not completed
