Leopold Godowsky, Sr. 1905
Leopold Godowsky (1870-1938), American composer and pianist of Polish descent. Born in Vilnius, he studied in Berlin and later with the French composer Camille Saint-Saens. He was famous for his brilliant piano playing. Among his compositions are many piano pieces and three symphonies
