The Lombard Peace Treaty, 1183
The Lombard Peace Treaty was concluded in Constance between the German Emperor Frederick I, Barbarossa, and the northern Italian cities of Lombardy. The emperor thus accepts the communal constitution of the Imperial Italy. The municipalities thus enjoyed a privileged legal position. The peace treaty poured in bronze stands today at the Emperor's Fountain on the market square of Konstanz
