Matthias Klotz monument in Mittenwald, 1903

This monument in front of the parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Mittenwald was built for Matthias Klotz, the founder of violin making in the village. Due to the perspective, he appears at eye level with St. Paul on the left. The picture was taken in 1903 on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the violin maker. On the pedestal is written: M. Klotz / Born 1653 Died 1743
