Meeting between Benito Mussolini and King Victor Emmanuel

The King of Italy, Victor Emmanuel III. (centre, in uniform), met publicly with Benito Mussolini (right), the new head of government, on 4 November 1922. They are followed by the newly installed cabinet on their way to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, after the ministers had previously sworn their inaugural oaths. Some ministers (from left to right): probably Gabriello Carnazza (Minister of Public Works, left behind the King), Luigi Federzoni (Minister of Colonial Affairs, right behind the King) Giuseppe De Capitani d'Arzago (Minister of Agriculture, 2nd from left behind Mussolini) and Grand Admiral Paolo Thaon di Revel (Minister of the Navy, right in front). The politicians walk across Piazza Venezia (Palazzo Venezia on the left) to the tomb, which is located at the Vittoriano. November 4, 1922 was the first anniversary after the opening of the memorial
