The Mongol invasion of Europe. In 1223 was a the decisive battle on the Kalka, Mstislav and Kiev and Mstislav of Chernigov were defeated, it began the Tatar rule over Russia. The Mongols moved on west to the Wahlstatt in Legnica, where in 1241 began their retreat. In 1241, a Mongol army defeated a Polish-German army at the Battle of Liegnitz
