Mountain troops in Cholm, 1942

A mountain trooper, probably a member of the Jagdkommando 8 (Hunting Commando 8), pours himself a tea from a samovar in Kholm. During the encirclement battle of Kholm the Kampfgruppe Scherer successfully defended the town for 105 days. (A photo of the Propaganda Company (PK) by war correspondent Richard Muck, who flew into the pocket at the beginning of March)
