In 1934, exercises of the mountain troops took place on the Zugspitzplatt. In the picture, a column has set off from the Schneefernerhaus below the Zugspitz peak and is now marching past its officers up the snowy slopes. Several soldiers at a time are pulling and pushing one of the sledges, which carry the necessary equipment such as skis. The soldiers are wearing snowshoes
