The new fairy tale of the Frog Prince from

Under the title Das neue Maerchen vom Froschkoenig (The New Fairy Tale of the Frog Prince) a satirical reinterpretation of the well-known fairy tale appeared in four pictures in the journal Simplicissimus in 1932. The draftsman expressed his concern over a reintroduction of the monarchy after the seizure of power by Hitler. Here is the second picture, in which Princess Germania is persuaded by two men (left Kurt von Schleicher, right Franz von Papen) to marry the Frog Prince. The caption reads: And there was a pure and beautiful maiden named Germania, poor but of noble lineage. Everyone told her to marry the Frog King
