The new fairy tale of the Frog Prince from Simplicissimus
Under the title Das neue Maerchen vom Froschkoenig (The New Fairy Tale of the Frog Prince) a satirical reinterpretation of the well-known fairy tale appeared in four pictures in the journal Simplicissimus in 1932. The draftsman expressed his concern over a reintroduction of the monarchy after the seizure of power by Hitler. Here is the first picture showing the Frog Prince. The caption reads: Once upon a time, there was a Frog Prince who lived in a brown swamp. He had nothing but a big mouth and was neither good looking nor hearing well
