The new fairy tale of the Frog Prince from Simplicissimus
Under the title Das neue Maerchen vom Froschkoenig (The New Fairy Tale of the Frog Prince) a satirical reinterpretation of the well-known fairy tale appeared in four pictures in the journal Simplicissimus in 1932. The draftsman expressed his concern over a reintroduction of the monarchy after the seizure of power by Hitler. Here is the third picture in which Germania kisses the Frog Prince. The caption reads: Then the maiden finally plucked up courage, and took the Frog Prince in her bed and gave him a hearty kiss
