Nikolaiy Yeshov
Nikolai Yezhov was head of the Soviet Interior Ministry and the NKVD secret police from 1936 to 1938. In this period he was head of the executive organ of Stalinist terror, which claimed an estimated two million victims during his term. After his replacement by Lavrentiy Beria, he was himself executed by the same machinery
