Occupation of Albania by Italy, 1939
In early April 1939, the Italian army occupied Albania. On April 7, the offensive began with the attack on several Albanian port cities. The photograph shows one of these towns after the landing of the Italian army. Anchored is the ship SS Valsavoia, whose cargo is being lifted onto the quay by harbour crane. Goods and barrels are lying in the harbour for the supply of the Italian regiments, which are gathering at the harbour
