A man holds up a large poster on October 1, 1938. On the poster: Sudeten German People! The hour of liberation has come. German troops are ready to take your country under the wings and supremacy of the Reich. By command of the Fuehrer and Supreme Commander of the Wehrmacht, I took over the executive power with the enlisting of the troops. All measures taken and to be taken by me are solely for your benefit and protection. Everyone mind his own business. Everyone help to create orderly conditions immediately. Everyone obey my orders willingly. In this way, you are doing your German fatherland the best service. Long live the Fuehrer! Headquarters, October 1, 1938.
