The American ocean explorer Otis Barton and William Beebe next to the diving bell Bathysphere on a research vessel in the vicinity of Bermuda. The diving bell contained a large picture window through which the two researchers were able to observe the flora and fauna. At this undertaking, William Beebe established a new world record in deep-sea diving and enhanced his best performance at 2, 200 feet
