Otto I
This painting shows a portrait of Otto I. He was a close confidant of Emperor Frederick I, called Barbarossa. He was rewarded by him after the deposition of Henry the Lion in 1180 with the Bavarian dukedom. Otto thus became the founder of the Wittelsbach power position in Bavaria and in the realm.
