Otto von Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm II in front of Friedrichsruhe, Bismarck's residence. Bismarck, Chancellor of Germany resigned in March 1890 in protest against the Kaiser's policies. Early conflicts between Wilhelm II and his chancellor soon poisoned the relationship between the two men, to cover the resulting public perception the young monarch visited the aged Chancellor several times in his residence
