Parade for Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini in Rome, 1938

Adolf Hitler visited Italy, allied with Nazi Germany, at the beginning of May 1938. On Friday, May 6, 1938, a parade with 50000 soldiers and members of fascist organizations took place on the Via Trionfale (today Via di San Gregorio) in Rome. The picture shows women of the Giovani Fasciste passing the tribune. On the tribune are (from left to right): Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy and his wife, Elena of Montenegro. Behind them are (2nd row, l.t.r.): Reich Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop, Italian Foreign Minister Count Galeazzo Ciano (obscured), Joseph Goebbels, Heinrich Himmler (behind), Rudolf Hess and Minister of State Otto Meissner (facing away). Behind the Italian Queen are the Duke of Pistoia (wearing helmet), Marshal Emilio de Bono and SS Gruppenfuhrer Julius Schaub to the right
