: Parade for holiday of national unity and armed forces

Parade for holiday of national unity and armed forces

On 4 November 1935, as every year, the National Unity and Armed Forces Day (Giornata dell'Unit Nazionale e delle Forze Armate) was celebrated with a great parade. On the picture you can see the flag bearers of the different local groups of the Blackshirts (so called Fascio romano di combattimento') standing at the steps of the Vittoriano. Behind them, thousands of people have gathered in Piazza Venezia in Rome. In the foreground on the right is probably Luigi Russo, then head of the Blackshirt militia
